Electric car manufacturer Tesla confirmed recently that it's upcoming saloon model, the "Model S", with its large sat-nav/infotainment unit will be open to third part applications.
It was clarified that these should be car related though, as much as our mock-up above might seem cool, doing 70 on the freeway whilst playing Angry Birds isn't big or clever, so rather than games, expect things like efficiency calculators, more sat-nav layers and traffic information.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk also outlined that he hopes text-to-speech apps will be popular, as (from media reports) the US seems to have a major issue with road users texting whilst driving.
So that's apps on your mobile, desktop, TV and now your car. I'm thinking the future may just be Cut the Rope on my toaster...
