Posted by Steve on Tue, 29 Sep 2009 09:02:09 BST Vodafone has jumped on the bandwagon, and not 24 hours since Orange made its similar announcement, will begin selling the highest of the high-end smartphones on its network. We knew that O2's exclusivity was coming to an end (a fact which they wrapped up with "we've still got the iPhone, and we're getting the Pre"), and with Orange's announcement that they were offering the handset just yesterday, we weren't expecting this. Although it also seems as though Vodafone wasn't expecting it, as The Telegraph reports that the deal was only hammered out last night. Analysts reckon that this will lead to an iPhone price war, with the new networks having to knock £4 or £5 a month off of their tariff prices (resulting in a £120 saving over the lifetime of the contract) to compete with O2's brand recognition as "the iPhone network" in the UK. Full details are expected within the next few minutes. [The Telegraph] comments powered by Disqus |
