Facebook to launch Lite version

In its bid to try and tackle Twitter at the same time as tackling Google, Facebook is lining up a Lite version of the service to go live to a few select beta testers this week.

From what we've been hearing, the design looks like a more featured Twitter page, with comments on statuses allowed.

TechCrunch tipped us off to the location of a purported screenshot of the Lite version, and that's what is pictured (Source).

Facebook has becoming more bloated over the years (although consigning the application boxes to a separate page did help a lot), and a Lite version with the look and feel of their recent purchase, FriendFeed, might make the service easier to use for newcomers.
