Posted by Steve on 17/6/09 As something of a Twitter addict, the only real way to stay connected to the service is on the move on my iPod, so that whenever a WiFi hotspot comes calling, I can catch up on my Tweets. Now I've been using TwitterFon Pro since its launch several weeks back (and TwitterFon before that) and I've been mightily impressed, so TweetDeck has its work cut-out to make me switch. First off, I'm not a TweetDeck Desktop user. This is due to Adobe AIR clients using a lot of processing power, and it'd be unfair to make my poor laptop's processor handle that. Although I have heard good things about, and will try it out when the new laptop arrives in a few weeks. ![]() From the screenshots of the desktop client, the iPhone version should look familiar with its multi-column view and notification windows (with remaining API calls listed). You navigate the columns by flicking from side-to-side, which is ridiculously intuitive on the device now, and you can add your own columns easily (for other accounts, Twitter searches etc...). ![]() Writing Tweets is really easy, and will be instantly familiar to anyone who has used an iPhone client before as they all work in much the same way. One thing I will say though, is in my early usage, I've been unable to find the "Delete" button for my Tweets (if it's in there, it isn't easily findable, which eliminates its use in an agile client). Verdict? TweetDeck for iPhone looks really promising, and whilst my main iPod client will still be TwitterFon Pro that is merely down to personal preference, and at the price of FREE, I urge you to download TweetDeck and take it for a spin ASAP. 9/10comments powered by Disqus |
