Twitter introduces Hovercards profile preview feature

One of the main pain points of using the Twitter.com website to interact with the microblogging ecosystem is seeing information on people in your stream. With all those RTs flowing about, it'd be great to know something about these users whose tweets appear on your page.

Well, Twitter is in the process of rolling out a new feature, dubbed; Hovercards, which allows you to see profile information for users on the Home Stream by just hovering over a users name. This will allow you to see all of the information you'd have to navigate to their profile to see, as well as letting you reply to them directly.

The feature will also allow you to send Direct Messages to those that you follow straight from the Home Stream, so no navigating away and breaking the experience. As per Twitter norm, it's being rolled out in batches, but should be appearing for all users soon.
