Mob Wars

People like playing gangsters; we see it all the time in traditional video games from the likes of Grand Theft Auto to The Godfather. We also see it in films with the latters’ trilogy, Goodfellas and small-screen hits like The Sopranos.

So it was hardly surprising that an enterprising developer has managed to get the Mafia-style concept onto everybody’s favourite social networking site; Facebook. We look at ‘Mob Wars’.

Getting into this game is easy as it is all about the long play. You have a while to get into the groove of things due to the time and turn-based nature of the game’s actions. Intuitively the ‘Job’ section, which is the way to make a fast buck – needed at the start, is at the top of the list of options making it easy to see where to start.

As you can see from the screen-grab, they range from the thuggish mugging to more high-brow crimes like Jewellery Store Robbing that are unlocked as you gain more experience from the lower-end Jobs.
You have to use energy points to undertake these Jobs, and these are added every few minutes so you can either do another low energy job quicker, or wait for enough energy points to pull-off a more lucrative mission.

The money you earn from these missions can be spent on land and subsequently buildings which generate an income or more firepower in the shape of guns, cars and armour; more of which gets unlocked the higher up the experience ladder you go.

You can also make enemies by fighting other Mobs in the game, dealing and taking damage against you and the opponent as well as robbing them of money if you’re successful.

Combining the fun and longevity of the game, we’d have to say that Mob Wars would be the perfect add to your everyday profile. Not only is it enjoyable, but the profile box is also very small, which in these application rich days, is always a good thing.
